A Little bit About Me
Hello Whaleshares community. I have finally found my way to the new whaleshares platform and I have to say I am excited to get blogging. I will be diving into why whaleshares interests me so much shortly but first a little more about me.
My name is Rowan, I come from the city of Liverpool in the UK. The picture above is of me snapping a selfie in Bangkok in 2010. The picture below is the real truth behind the ravages of age ๐ I am an Imaginative Writing graduate and will be posting primarily poetry and fiction on Whaleshares. I am excited to get involved in helping the creative writing community on whaleshares grow and see how it develops.
Why I'm Excited about Whaleshares ๐
I've been blogging on steemit for just over a year now. Don't get me wrong, I love that platform and will continue to post pretty much daily on steemit. But from what I've read about Whaleshares, I believe it could be a fantastic sandbox for testing out different ways of doing things. Different payout mechanisms, power-downs etc. I feel like this is an essential thing to find some type of consensus on the best way to structure our crypto social media revolution. I'm particularly interested to see how the no delegations rule will effect and hopefully regulate Whaleshares, to avoid some of the issues of abuse that happen on steemit. Also the rule that makes flagging 3 times more expensive than upvoting, both of these mechanisms have the potential to avoid a lot of unfairness and drama.
โ NO DELEGATION
While delegation may have a few benefits when used responsibly, the downsides and long-term damage it causes to the balance of a rewards-based platform far out-weigh the good. Voting collusion, bid bots, voting rings, sock-puppet accounts, flag wars, and other negative behavior are encouraged by delegation. For these reasons, there will be no delegation of WHALESTAKE.

This type of experimentation is crucial and who knows, maybe one day steemit might adopt a similar model in one of their updates if it proves a successful model here at Whaleshares. I am also really impressed and thankful at how well the UI is set up on the Whaleshares platform. It feels intuitive and very similar to steemit which works well for me, as Iโve become so used to that interface in my blogging.
I am very excited to be here on Whaleshares blogging, for the chance to build new relationships and be part of the beginning of a new community. I will be curating widely around the subjects of writing, art and music, I look forward to reading some amazing posts.
I couldn't leave without writing a little poetry especially to celebrate the creation of this new platform, so here goes:
The Whale Shares our Surface
We swim in the same seas,
surface kissed by sunlight,
dappled with flights of birds,
motion stirred up in the breeze.
God rays in penitent depths,
a whale glides in currents,
swept in up-wells
sailing ancient instinct.
We too are carried along,
sharing ancient current
in the whale song.
