Good for you! It's a huge first step leaving everything behind. It's also a huge sense of new found freedom. The first time I did it I was much younger at 18 flying so Santiago, Chile taking a job as a ski instructor at a resort. Barely spoke any Spanish, but it set the course for the next 10 years of my life living and working in South America and the Caribbean. If it doesn't fit in a couple of bags you don't need it, and I still believe that today!
That one way ticket is always exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. But what a way to live! It's nice you can still work remotely and make a living though, that wasn't an option back in 1990 when my wanderings started! I'm excited to hear more of your experiences down in Ecuador, what a beautiful country!
