Starman Oddity
Now that SpaceX has successfully launched Starman on a Telsa into outer space using their rocket ship called the Falcon Heavy, many are now interested in investing in the SpaceX company. Even though the company is a privately owned company, there are those hoping for a SpaceX IPO. The IPO would then allow for investors to purchase SpaceX company stocks through a stock exchange such as the NYSE or Nasdaq.
The IPO won't be happening anytime soon. In fact it will probably never happen since Elon Musk has stated that he prefers SpaceX to remain a privately held company. He has reiterated this in public as well as through company email to SpaceX employees. He has explained that Tesla and Solar City had to go public in order to acquire the necessary funding to become fully functional companies while SpaceX did not have that problem. Musk has also publicy stated that he would not want SpaceX to have to answer to corporate investors for fear of losing Mars colonization as a goal over corporate profits.
This may leave many small time and even big money investors deflated. Elon Musk and his SpaceX team will surely turn SpaceX into a very profitable company. Some analysts believe SpaceX's worth could grow to become $50 Billion Dollars in the next few years more than doubling its value. This company is definitely going to make many of SpaceX's investors very wealthy, but unfortunately the public won't be able to directly benefit unless you find a back door into SpaceX shares.
This back door entrance into SpaceX shares will not be cheap either. Starting at around $1030 per share, you can own shares in the company now called Alphabet inc.. Alphabet inc, formerly known as Google Inc, invested $1 Billion Dollars in SpaceX for about a 10% stake in SpaceX around three years ago. So by owning Alphabet inc stock, you will also be an investor in SpaceX. Every SpaceX success can be seen as adding value to Alphabet inc's stock price.
