"Refuses to elaborate further?" As an American citizen do you not demand further explanations before your sons and daughters are sent to the Middle East? "WE THE PEOPLE" have a say before they bring our children home in body bags! Haven't you realized by now The government will lie to you to perpetuate corporate interest for the rich!
Are we not bogged down in the longest war in America's history because of alleged boxcutters and false statements about WMDs? Over 24,000 American soldiers and civilian contractors killed or injured in the present war. (1). There was no national interest in going to the Middle East.
Wasn't American citizens lied to in the 1960's that led to The War in Vietnam which cost this country nearly 60,000 killed-in-action, over 150,000 wounded, and some 1,600 missing?(2)
The lies told that Communism was "spreading" to get this country in to the Korean War cost Americans 33,651 battle deaths and 3,262 other deaths. What national interest were served? More than half a century later, did we benefit? No.
I can go on-and-on.
The country that doesn't embrace peace will die in war.
I proudly served this country and will gladly continue to protect this land but with knowledge, age, and understanding I have learned war cost Us, the citizen, and not those people you elect to go to D.C.
With lies and deceit elected officials and corporations have sent our family members, past and present, to foreign lands to fight wars and battles that we Americans do not profit from nor agreed to. Every generation bleeds! And for what?! Unless some foreign nation invades our soil or this land is under siege then what right do we have to go to another country and tell them what they should do or how they should act? Would you like it if Iraq or Afghanistan came to this country and gave you curfews, killed your families and dictated your every movement? Not no, but hell no!
Your children, husbands, wives, family and friends will die because of MONEY and OIL. Not for national interest.
If your child went to school and picked a fight would you be happy?! No. What gives us or anybody else the right to pick fights? Just because our guns are bigger? Or, is it because we made a deal with Saudi Arabia and other OPEC nations? No.
Without further explanations from Pompeo and this nation regarding the reason for an assassination and causing potential American deaths then America just picked a fight. And, as part of "WE THE PEOPLE" I am 100% against a unilateral decision to cause war because to do so makes the United States no different but equal to a terrorist state.
God bless America
As of July 7, 2018, there have been 2,372 U.S. military deaths in the War in Afghanistan. 1,856 of these deaths have been the result of hostile action. 20,320 American servicemembers have also been wounded in action during the war. In addition, there were 1,720 U.S. civilian contractor fatalities.
Gulf of Tonkin incident - The original American report blamed North Vietnam for both incidents, but the Pentagon Papers, the memoirs of Robert McNamara, and NSA publications from 2005, proved material misrepresentation by the US government to justify a war against Vietnam.
