Hey, Steemians! Island hopping this summer, anyone?
Few weeks from now and summer is here. It's beaching time and adventure. Talking about adventure, have any of you from the Philippines been to Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte? The experience is one of a kind, recommended for busy city folks, away from noise, pollution, and radiation.
I visited this place two summers ago. As a teacher, the experience was a respite from the busyness of paper works. Kalanggaman Island has a sand bar with pearly-white sand. At night, when it's not cloudy, you will entertained by the beautiful starry sky. Because the island is a marine protected sanctuary, you can see different kinds of snails and shells. Walking the entire island would only take barely an hour, that's including your stops to marvel at what you can find in the beach.
To get there, you have to go to Palompon, Leyte. Then there are ferries or boats that can take you to the island. However, bring a full gear when you go, meaning, you need to bring food, water, and some essentials with you. Bring your camera, yes! You may not bring your mobile phone since the island has no signal, not even an electricity.
See you in some island, whether figurative or real!
