I’ve written previously about Israel’s capability for large scale armoured warfare on a scale not seen since WW2.
Most other countries have drastically cut their tank forces because of their vulnerability to anti-tank missiles and perceived unsuitability for urban warfare.
Israel has turned these assumptions on their head, equipping it’s Merkava IV tanks and Namer & Eitan armoured fighting vehicles with the Trophy Active Protection System which shoots down any missile fired at the tank and responds automatically to the source of the fire within seconds.
In other words, firing an anti-tank missile at an Israeli tank is a pointless suicide mission.
You can see how well it works here
Israel has also kept building tanks and now has over 3500 tanks of which over 1500 are the most advanced Merkava III & IV.
Meanwhile Israel’s historic enemies such as Syria & Iraq (which are still at war with Israel because they’ve refused to make peace) have had their once impressive tank forces wiped out by civil war, US invasion and poor maintenance.
Iran has never had much of a tank force to speak of and Hizballah has no tanks.
So the Middle East battlefield is really wide open for Israel to conduct large scale armoured operations with basically no effective opposition.
Israeli armoured divisions could easily drive right across Syria and Iraq to the gates of Tehran!
Maybe this is why Israel asked the US to leave Syria, so it can have a free hand for high intensity armoured warfare without American's getting in the way?
