As in my *introduceyourself * I told I'm a fisherman of the river, of salmonids to be precise, so it seems to me right, even for friends overseas who have requested it, describe the types of trout in Italian waters. I would like to start from the most particular type, which only in a few areas can be found and that breeding is rather complicated. 
I'm talking about the Salmo Trutta Marmoratus, commonly called the Marble Trout.
This specimen that can reach important dimensions. It can even reach over 20 kilograms of weight and exceed one meter in length. It is typical of the Italian subalpine river basins and of Slovenia. But why this name? Its livery is formed by spots that resemble those of marble, with different shades of light and dark gray, greenish, and in the part of the gills depending on the specimen are less evident than the reflections of blue color. The fins are yellowish and gray, very pronounced.
It tends to live in gravelly beds with deep holes. It bears the current very well, and during the summer solstice tends to reassemble the waterways. Precisely for this reason the stairs of return are introduced more and more often. Due to dams for hydroelectric power plants, trout recovery becomes impossible. With this system it is possible to make up for the natural need of the marble trout to go in search of the best areas for reproductive activity and guarantee the right balance of fish along the rivers. Personally I had the chance to see the ascent of the marble trout many years ago in the river Sesia, along a waterfall of a couple of meters, where the strength of the water was really intense. Specimens of up to 10 kilograms were able to trace the water with incredible strength, a truly exciting show. An example of the strength of nature. It is not easy to catch these trout, but when it happens it is always a day to remember. They are equipped with a force greater than the other trout species, precisely because they prefer the current and therefore their musculature is very gifted. Also for this reason it is a very popular fish at the table.

Come nel mio introduceyourself raccontavo sono pescatore di torrente, di salmonidi per la precisione, mi sembra quindi doveroso, anche per gli amici oltreoceano che me l’hanno richiesto, descrivere le tipologie di trote presenti nelle acque italiane. Vorrei iniziare dalla tipologia più particolare, che solo in poche zone è possibile ritrovare e che la riproduzione in allevamento è alquanto complicata.
Sto parlando della Salmo Trutta Marmoratus, volgarmente chiamata Trota Marmorata.
Questo esemplare può raggiungere dimensioni importanti, anche più di 20 chilogrammi di peso e superare il metro di lunghezza. E’ tipico dei bacini fluviali subalpini Italiani e della Slovenia.
Ma perché questo nome? La sua livrea è formata da macchie che ricordano quelle del marmo, con diverse tonalità del grigio chiaro e scuro, verdastre, e nella parte delle branchie a seconda dell’esemplare sono più meno evidenti dei riflessi di colore blu. Le pinne sono giallastre e grigie, molto pronunciate.
Tende a vivere in alvei dal fondo ghiaioso con profonde buche. Sopporta molto bene la corrente, e nel periodo del solstizio d’estate tende a rimontare i corsi d’acqua. Proprio per questo vengono introdotte sempre più spesso le scale di rimonta. A causa di dighe per centrali idroelettriche diventa impossibile la rimonta delle trote. Con questo sistema si riesce a sopperire all’esigenza naturale della trota marmorata di andare in cerca delle zone migliori per l’attività riproduttiva e garantire il giusto equilibrio ittico lungo i fiumi.
Personalmente ho avuto modo di vedere la risalita della trota marmorata molti anni fa nel fiume Sesia, lungo una cascata di un paio di metri, dove la forza dell’acqua era davvero intensa.
Esemplari anche di 10 chilogrammi riuscivano a risalire l’acqua con una forza incredibile, uno spettacolo davvero entusiasmante. Un esempio di forza della natura.
Non è facile la cattura di queste trote, ma quando avviene è sempre un giorno da ricordare. Sono dotate di una forza maggiore rispetto alle altre specie di trota, proprio perché prediligono la corrente e quindi la loro muscolatura è molto dotata. Anche per questo è un pesce molto apprezzato a tavola.
