Internet service returned to Kashmir after 18 months. The information was confirmed by Jammu and Kashmir Principal Secretary Rohit Kanshal on Friday (February 5th).
The Center shut down internet services soon after Section 370 was lifted from Kashmir. Although the service was launched later, high speed internet or 4G service has not been launched so far. But the administration has decided to re-launch the service as no major incidents have taken place in the last five months.
Internet service has been down in Jammu and Kashmir since August 4, 2019. Which has been re-launched since midnight on Friday. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted shortly after the announcement of the resumption of internet. He wrote on Twitter, “Four-G Mubarak! For the first time since 2019, Four-G mobile data will be launched in Kashmir. ”
