There are several places in Tokyo that illuminate the cherry blossoms at night.
However, none of them compares to the night cherry blossoms “yozakura” 夜桜 at Chidorigafuchi Moat 千鳥ヶ淵 in Tokyo.

The Chidorigafuchi Moat was used at the former Edo Castle and has cherry trees lining both sides of the moat.
Much like the Meguro River, this site has a “suggested path” which leads viewers in the same direction with magnificent views of the cherry blossoms.
Although you can thoroughly enjoy the views here in the daytime, you find a much better use of your time than to come at night for the illuminations.
Since this is a very famous place to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo, it is going to be crowded at any time of day. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to rent a rowboat and get a very special view of the blossoms from the moat itself.
Super crowded but worth it
Chidorigafuchi is near Yasukuni Shrine which also has nice cherry blossoms onsite. Don’t forget to see the “official cherry blossom tree” which Tokyo officials use to declare the beginning of the cherry blossom season.
Other great illuminated cherry blossoms at night can be found at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi as well as the Meguro River.
Question: Where are your favorite places to view cherry blossoms in Tokyo? In Japan?
