The song says “I’m moody all the morning, mourning all the night”
But wouldn't it be better if it said “I’m mooning all the morning, mourning all the night”??
It's what I actually understand from the interpretation by Billie Holiday and, well, imagine Billie walking around the kitchen butt naked just for the heck of it.
On a more intellectual note, it would be also a nice semantic chiasm with the night, that is notoriously the time when the moon shines most of the time.
