The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Jehovah's Witnesses is an oligarchic religious theocracy. That is, it is a religious organization ruled by a few men, from the top down, whose main tenet is that it has God as its Head.
Its Governing Body claims to have Jehovah God at the helm of its organization. All of the rules for conduct for Jehovah’s Witnesses; all of the doctrines of the Governing Body, are to be accepted without question - as if they were the commandments of God, Jehovah (through His Agent in Heaven, Jesus Christ).
It is taught to Jehovah’s Witnesses that Jehovah their God hands His rules down (through Jesus or through angelic inspiration) to the Governing Body for dissemination to the “flock of sheep” in its charge – like a Moses in the desert leading the Israelite people through the wilderness, and handing down to them the Ten Commandments of God.
To question anything the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses does or says, therefore, is tantamount to distrusting Jehovah God, for it is unthinkable that the Governing Body has ever done or said anything contrary to the will of Jehovah.
In effect, however, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's theocratic oligarchy succeeds in keeping Jehovah’s Witnesses subservient and ignorant. The lives, hearts and minds of Jehovah’s Witnesses are not their own. They belong to their true Masters, the Governing Body - rulers of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.
With no exaggeration, Jehovah's Witnesses are (metaphorically) like sheep being led to the slaughter house.
But we'll let that go...for now.
We'll most certainly come back to it later!
