Alice use to work at a roadside shop on the historic Route 66 near Gallop New Mexico. Back in the 70’s she knew many of the native american artists who would sell her their handmade jewelry. Often they would bring special pieces they made especially for her. Many native american tribes throughout the west and southwest , such as the Zuni, Navajo, and Pueblo, worked in this style of sterling silver, turquoise, red coral. These days there is a renewel of interest in this style through the eclectic Boho style of fashion which celebrates the DIY, do it yourself, and unique individualistic qualities. It was fun giving the appraisal and both Alice and Riley were surprised at the values i quoted them. For example the egyptian looking necklace in the photo i appraised around 250-300 dollars. Of course those would be retail and or insurance prices. Realistically, she would be able to fetch at least a hundred dollars easily using ebay or other online auction sites.
Thanks for reading. Until next time my fellow steamians!
