Technology is moving so fast that most people don't realize these jobs won't be around in 10 years. Some jobs are being taken over by robotics while some will just disappear like Blockbuster employees. If you have one of these jobs then you will really want to think about trying something new soon.
10 Jobs That Won't Exist In 10 Years
1. Taxi Drivers
Not only are taxi drivers under threat by companies like UBER and Lyft, but autonomous vehicles will eventually cast the final nail in the coffin.
2. Mall Employees & Mall Santas
The retail space is getting hit hard by the increase in Internet sales through Amazon and others. There will come a time in the very near future that malls will start closing their doors. They might become mining facilities for Bitcoin or Ethereum. Who knows, but they won't find a 21 Forever in there ironically. And no more mall Santas.
3. GameStop Jobs
The days of trading a $50 game for $3 will soon be over. The video game store will be history as video game content goes 100% digital over the next 10 years.
4. Fast Food Employees
You favorite drive through pranks are going to come to an end soon. Fast food businesses will transition over to machines as soon as possible. Which is a shame if you're this guy and losing your job.
5. Toll Booth Collectors
Those lonely jobs in the middle of the highway are going to go away. The more autonomous cars and trucks become so will the payment to use the roads. Don't worry. Most of us will be able to figure it out. Except for this woman.
6. Newspaper Employees
Within 10 years, we are going to see newspapers completely disappear. Their brands will last online, but the local paper boy will not have a job. The printing team won't have jobs and all the people that sold, designed and edited the paper will have to find new jobs doing something else.
7. Travel Agent
Very soon, travel agents won't be needed. With the savings and the popularity of travel sites, the need to see a local agent is already almost non-existent. In 10 years, it will be hard to find a local travel agent.
8. Assembly Line Workers
In a very short amount of time, the robot that you see below will morph into a fully autonomous assembly plant with the need of a few employees just to monitor everything. You might be able to still find assembly line jobs in other parts of the world, but not in the US.
9. Cashiers
Your local 7/11 most likely won't have grumpy cashiers to deal with. Instead you go in and get what you want and when you walk out it's paid for or replaced by large vending machine type buildings. Either way, find a new job.
10. Strippers
Just kidding, there will still be strippers, but they won't dance for cash. The term "make it rain" won't work anymore. There will be a screen behind the stripper that accumulates the bitcoin the audience transfers like a telethon donation counter. Oh, and telethon jobs will be gone too. So start saving that bitcoin. lol
Just remember, all of this is possible because of the Internet!
