I would like to share my experience on how got a job in Germany. Hope it might just help someone out there.
I moved to Germany in September 2016 'cz my husband works here. The first 2 months after I reached here, I was kind of travelling throughout Europe, exploring new places and food. (I still do :P) Also spending time in Kitchen experimenting my talent on cooking. And that's when I started my Youtube Channel "Kitchenbirds"- a food and travel channel. Its not that a big channel however I enjoy doing it. Also there are few travel videos that me and husband put up on this channel. Simultaneously I was looking for jobs. But I realized that without knowledge of German language, it was pretty hard to find a job in Germany in my field. I even started looking for part time jobs to keep myself engaged. So i found a part time job at a clothing outlet but to be frank that was a hell. I discontinued that within a month. I could not handle it more. And that's when I decided to begin with my German course. On 1st week of January 2017 I joined for my classes. I started with A1.2 at a School in Munich. For 3 hours; 5 days a week - Intensive Course! But I had to take a break for 2 months as I flew to India. Then back to School again. Till September (B1.2) I did an Intensive course but then I decided to do a Standard Course 'cz it was definitely getting tougher and I needed more time to learn the lessons. In between I went for 2 job fairs hoping to get a contact or something of that sort to lead to a job! But unfortunately that did not help. It was basically cz I was not into IT sector. If it was so, it would have been really easy to get a job! I did my Bachelors in Engineering and then a Masters in Management. Also, I have 2 years of work experience in Management consulting. So that's my background and hence it was difficult to get a job in Management consulting as the main language of communication in Germany is obviously GERMAN! So I had no other way other than continuing with my German classes and also my job search. In between I translated my resume to German and started applying using that. And I definitely felt the difference. My phone rang for the first time from a HR. :P I was thrilled but I messed up with my German. Obviously cz the telephonic interview was in German :) Then my 2nd call came from another firm. Bad luck! That too did not work. But!! It worked on the 3rd time. I had a pretty good telephonic interview with the HR and them I was asked to attend a personal interview. I was completely overwhelmed with happiness and excitement. That was the first invitation for a personal interview. The job description was not completely into management consulting, but it was more into IT Consulting. So I started refreshing my technical knowledge and little of German. And then it was time to face the interview panel. It was better than what I expected. And I was surprised when they gave me a job offer! :) It was quite unbelievable,! but ya! I did it. After more than a year of job search I succeeded. So that's how I got a job in Germany!
