Robert Marshall, Managing Director of QuadroIT, whose company is the primary sponsor of STEEM Saturday in Johannesburg, posted something about the event and STEEMIT on his LinkedIn Pulse page ..

Steemit has also leapt to half a million unique monthly visitors in September, and is now experiencing similar signs of growth to Facebook and Reddit in their early days: In October 2006, 16 months after Reddit was founded and acquired by Conde Nast, the company reported 2.1 million unique monthly visitors. Steemit reported 550,000 unique monthly visitors in less than a third of the time. In December 2004, Facebook recorded 1 million users in its first year. Steemit, after five months, has 100,000. "

The Accounts will Come, but More Eyeballs is the Place to Start!
These are the metrics that STEEMIT promoters should focus on, not the controversial total number of unique accounts, which we know can not be accurate, due to the number of bots and miner accounts that exist. The fact is STEEMIT is being "viewed" by increasing numbers of non-STEEMIT members. STEEMians are promoting their posts outside of STEEMIT, which is bringing in the curious.
These unique viewers will come to consume the high-quality content, and once they gain some understanding of the dynamics here, they will eventually be 'converted' to participating members. The more we promote outside of STEEMIT, and the more activity there is on STEEMIT - people posting, curating, discussing - this 'is' the engine of growth.
One thing I have found very interesting are the STEEMIT Facebook groups that exist - people promoting, cross-posting, and generating some buzz within the very belly of the beast. One of our most energetic promoters in the Facebook space is our @sirwinchester!
This number of unique users bodes well for the future of advertising on STEEMIT, which will 'hopefully' provide direct benefit to STEEMIT users, in the form of shared revenue, boosting the value of STEEM simultaneously.
All-in-all, very positive! Congrats and our thanks to all those participating in STEEM Saturday!
