John Reynolds (1777 – 1 July 1856), was a United Irish politician, the eldest son of Patrick Reynolds, captain of a Dublin Guards regiment.He was a member of the Privy Council of Ireland and Lord Lieutenant of County Carlow from 1830 until his death.He was also a county judge for more than twenty years and a member of the Irish House of Commons.He was one of three sons of the solicitor Richard Reynolds, and his wife, Alice, "née" Mellor.He was educated at the University of Dublin, and went on to the Middle Temple.He entered the Irish House of Commons for Carlow County in 1801, and held his seat until 1822.He entered the Irish Senate in 1821, sitting
