Just before our last supper on the train, my wife and I were discussing some of the theories about Todd Phillips movie Joker. I don't believe any of this will be spoilers, but beware in case you haven't seen the film. One of the main theories is that Arthur Fleck, who dubs himself "Joker" is not The Joker that we know from prior Batman movies, but rather the one who starts a movement out of which "The Joker" arises. But that's not the point of this post.
More to that point, we also discussed the fact that there are three instances in the movie Joker where a clock is seen showing the time 11:11. When asked about that fact, both Todd Phillips and the movie's star Joaquin Phoenix have dismissed this as a coincidence.
If you've seen the Jordan Peele movie US, you know there is no shortage of 11:11 in that movie, from a bum holding a sign that reads "Jeremiah 11:11", to a baseball announcer saying "we're tied at 11-11," a bedroom clock that reads 11:11, and even a more subtle representation seen on a Black Flag band tee shirt worn in the movie.
But, and here's where the coincidence comes in, my wife and I entered the dining car on the train and were seated at table 11, where the table number and the knife and fork dining emblem combined to make 11:11. Coincidence?
