Content On The Go
MY 2024 SETUP
I have a new setup for 2024. I’m talking about my device for creating content on the go. I have a MacBook Air, my main computer, and I often carry it around with me to work in cafes. Sometimes I’d even throw it in a back pack and take it me on a long walk in case inspiration hits.
I received, as Christmas gift, this very useful battery case for my iPhone. It’s able to charge my phone twice from zero so, in addition to the iPhone’s internal battery itself, that’s about 48 ours of normal use! It’s so handy since my 3-year old pone is now starting to show its age in the battery life department. When I first got the phone it could go for an entire day of intense use and have 20% left. Now it hardly makes it through a normal day. This present has breathed new life into my phone fr sure and saves me from having to carry a power bank around all day. As it happens, my faithful Anker power bank that I had used for many, many years, finally died in Lisbon a couple of months ago.
Another cool part f the case is the kick stand. I means I don’t have to carry a phone stand for typing either. I have one that folds flat, so it wouldn’t have been a problem anyway but that’s one less thing to carry.
I already had this foldable Bluetooth keyboard which is very minimalist and beautiful to look at, but I had put it to one side because two of the keys are slightly unresponsive. The keys work, but I just have to press them harder than other keys. It’s a bit of a pain, but until I buy another one, I’ve got to live with it. I may even try to figure out how to fix the keys. I originally thought it might be some debris stuck in the keys but a little research showed that the problem was common with this particular keyboard sadly. It’s got something to do with the folding mechanism - so it’s a design flaw. The thing is, it worked perfectly when I first got it but, over time, it developed the known issue. I love the deign so much though. I hope they update the folding mechanism to resolve this issue because I’d buy it an again in a heartbeat.
Smartphones these days are total beasts! An iPhone or Pixel Pone or anything from Samsung today is orders of magnitude more powerful than the “high end” computers I used to code when I first started working in the city. It’s also much faster. Back then the entire office shared one 2MB/s broadband line. Now my iPhone can pull down gigabits in seconds and would have served a hundred offices at the time. There’s also the power of the camera and apps.
Let’s not leave out my beloved earbud from Jabra. The sound quality of these things are so up there considering how much I paid for them. They’re not in league with specialty audiophile headphones, but are as good as anything from Sony or Apple, if not better. Jabra has been in the wireless audio game for decades and it shows.
Peace & Love,
Adé
