This month we will be fixing the time drift resulting from the inaccurate number of days in our calendar year. The year is closer to 365.25 than 365 so every four years, we become one day short. This is why, in a leap year, February gets an extra day to fix it. There are other inaccuracies that have to be fixed every millennium, and every 1 million years, but we have time for that, so to say :)

Talking of fixing, I do have quite a lot to do this month. I don't think the extra day is going to help at all haha. A couple of electrics in my house decided to all break at the same time. I suppose their planned obsolescence timer has been triggered. I bought these things roughly at the same time so, all jokes apart, it does resemble a kill switch scenario. My dish washer, laundry machine and air expeller in the bathroom, all packed up on the same day!

I'm going to give it a go to fix it myself first. I have a good feeling about the dish washer. I've fixed one before in the past. It's usually something simple like a dislodged cable or a blocked pipe. They're pretty simple machines. The laundry machine has more moving parts and degrees of freedom, in terms of things that can go wrong. I don't have a good feeling about that one. The expeller has probably just done it's time. They're often cheaply made now and nothing like the expellers of old. On first inspection I can already see that there's been physical damage to the fan - no idea how. I will still give it a go though, you never know. Maybe there's a fuse in there that got blown.

1st of the month though and I have that new beginning feeling. I paid off the rest of my taxes yesterday, at the absolute deadline. I like to hold on to my dough for as long as possible :)
