My parents had gone out this morning to buy my Cinacalcet again and for those who are not familiar with this medicine and I am sure you are not, this drug mimics the effect of Calcium in the blood, basically it tells the parathyroid that I have an ample amount of Calcium already in my blood so it need not to pump its hormones that causes my bones to leach out calcium from them.
The years of high levels of Phosphorus in my blood due to my financial situation was kept unchecked until my bones had made changes in my facial bone and backbone, it is called Leontiasis. But after I was able to see an Endocrinologist that prescribed me this medicine I was able to improve my bones and now I am experiencing less pain and sometimes I can walk because the pain in my back had been alleviated as well as my rib pain.
It is a milestone and breaking through the pain makes my overall quality of life much better than having like a big pincloth attached to my back always. Not much patients can tolerate this drug because of its appetite-depressing side-effects which I had been enduring for the past three years so that I will get saved from so much pain like before and the possibility of my facial bone to grow into hideous levels.
Now I just have to accept that compromise and live with it to trade for my bone health and less body pain, that is my situation.
I Have A Discount
Anyway I am also glad that I am getting discount for my medicines. As you can see in the highlight in my receipt I am getting 12% discount from Tax and 20% discount as a "Person with Disability (PWD)" card holder. I just hope that Cinacalcet will soon be included from the list of medicines that will get a cut like the law that was passed before where my Phosphate binder "Sevelamer Carbonate" price had been reduced to almost half with my PWD discount included.
Now I am on a strict diet together with my regular intake of calcium tablet and Vitamin D plus these medicines aforementioned and I am now experiencing the fruits of my effort in restoring or healing my bones. It is hard and difficult process and I just have to endure some more tiome until I get more and more better results.
