Ever since I noticed a year ago that one of Luna's eyes was always more dilated than the other we have been jumping through the hoops of the french medical system to get the brain scan MRI which finally happened last week.
We knew by looking through all the baby pictures that she was born this way.
French doctors however told us there was a chance of a brain tumour putting pressure on an optic nerve and then made us wait a year for the MRI. Can you imagine how many people might have manifested the very thing they fear the most be spending a year focused on it? Thankfully we did not fall for this trick.
I knew of course in my heart there was nothing to worry about and I also knew their technology would not be able to tell us anything useful.
Changes
The situation became more concerning when six months ago we noticed her dilated eye could no longer look right.
This was new and we went to see a bunch of doctors all over the country who mostly just repeated old tests and continued to instil fear into Sabrina without giving us any useful information. And if I'm going to be honest... I felt the fear a little bit too. Understanding the worst case scenario is all well and good... but frankly we could have done without it.
When I went to visit my family in France this Summer (because I am away on a long film job in the UK) I noticed it quite pronounced at times.
Bless her little cotton socks, she understands nothing of what is going on.
No more fear
I cried yesterday when Sabrina told me the news. It was such an immense feeling. The MRI confirms there are no life threatening growths in there and she is in fact a perfectly healthy little girl... with a one important difference.
She has a Magic Eye!
I have called it her magic eye since I first noticed it because rather than seeing this as some kind of disability I am CONVINCED it is the opposite.
What she has is something us normal folk don't have.
For those of you who have taken psychedelics or ecstasy outside in nature you will know how interconnected the world can appear, like millions of little fractals which pulse with the heart beat of nature.
In order for us to see this interconnected dimension our pupils must be dilated.
See where I'm going with this?
Through one of Luna's eyes she can see the interconnectedness without the need for any chemicals and it is up to me to help her develop her ability so that she may use it as an advantage in her life.
As far as not being able to look right, I feel sure there are exercises I will discover to help her with this. If indeed it is really something she cares about. Ultimately it does not affect her ability to see clearly. We have had this confirmed by many doctors.
So, now that this little saga is over I will raise a glass of wine tonight to the Universe and to my glorious little perfect bundles of health and happiness.
