Just a short Photo test

Okay, it's been a few days since posting, well I guess nine days, oh well. So today I have been playing with my camera a bit more and finally figured out how to get both jpeg and nef(/raw) images. Everyone has been talking about the nef format and I wanted to see how it works, well my paint.net will not open a nef file, but fortunately I have been been playing with photopad also and it does let you open nef files.

I am going to start with the finished image, because it looks better than the untouched one.

I may have over compensated for the exposure but it still is better than the dark underexposed version in jpeg. I did not do any edits on the original.

Here is what the non-raw just Jpeg image came off the camera looking like:

Pretty dark. You still need to pick and choose what filters to use and not use, but the first thing was the exposure fix, that worked well. I have not purchased the whole program so other filters are limited, but still enough to make the RAW image file look pretty good with just a few clicks.

I am still shopping for photo programs so if you have a favorite let me know so I can take a look. I want a program that will do panoramic and HDR, and will work with the Nef/Raw file format. I have looked at Adobe Photoshop, but they no longer have an off-line program so that will not work for me.
