This is a photo taken by my son that he sent me. These are what we call in our dialect as kamaru or the mole cricket. My son now spends most of his time in the countryside with his wife. I know he will have a great time exploring the new place as he loves nature and animals. He decided to send me this photo because he is aware that I kind of miss having an exotic food once in a while.
Kamaru is actually served in restaurants nowadays as an exotic food especially in the Kapampangan cuisine. Before it was a lowly food for the farmers as kamarus abound in the rice fields and meadows. At night you can see them gather under lamp posts but that now depends if you are near a rice field or a place with lots of greens. You need a handful of them to make a dish like an adobong kamaru.
Thank you for dropping by hope you enjoyed reading and learning about a kamaru.
Until next post,
Gus
