Nice to know you 
Following two major calamities, the armed conflict between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the Government of Indonesia, as well as the tsunami, Aceh suffered severe trauma.
Activities that are art and culture are totally dead when the two events hit Aceh. In 2005, the Free Aceh Movement and the Government of Indonesia agreed to end the war through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Helsinki.
After the peace agreement, Aceh is like getting renewed energy to get back up. In the field of cinema, Aceh used to have a cinema, but after the conflict and the tsunami, the cinema was no more, even difficult to track its existence even for research materials.
In 2013, a group of young people in Banda Aceh who are members of various film communities formed the Aceh Documentary. Aceh Documentary has four programs each year. Among the programs are
- Aceh Documentary Competition:
this is a training to make documentaries for students of university and the public, they will be given a lesson on how to make a documentary film that will produce a documentary work.
- Aceh Documentary Junior:
Just like Aceh Documentary Competiton, Aceh Documentary Junior is for High School students. They will be trained to make documentary films.
- Aceh Documentary Forum:
This program is a screening of indie films produced by young filmmakers in Aceh and Indonesia. This is a form of appreciation for filmmakers. After the screening, there will be a discussion about the movie being played.
- Aceh Film Festival
This program is a great program of the three programs above. At the Aceh Film Festival there will be several sessions, such as community film forums in Aceh, film screenings (in Aceh, no cinema), screenings of all films produced by Aceh and Indonesia film makers, and award-winning awards for film maker in Aceh.
The four programs above are a revival of the film industry in Aceh. I have been involved in the Aceh Documentary Community since 2014 and participated in all these programs. What I really love is that all the friends who have struggled to raise the spirit of this film development sometimes have difficulty getting the cost to carry out all the events.
Since Steemit became known in Aceh, I was the first person to create an account at Steemit. Then I invited my friends in Aceh Documentary to create an account at Steemit as well. I mean one day we can be independent in managing programs related to film in Aceh. So far, the benefits gained from Steemit are already visible. We can finance our living expenses with some of the rewards in Steemit
I really aspire to be able to help my friends who have succeeded in awakening cinema in Aceh. So, if indeed I deserve to get a Steem Power delegation, I will use it for development in the field of cinema in Aceh. I want my friends not to run away from their passion to raise cinema in Aceh just because they do not get any income from their work.
With the Steem Power that I get later (hopefully), I will curate creative content from film makers and writers working on building films in Aceh. Steemit is a media capable of providing a bright development for indie filmmakers in Aceh.
Please note, the filmmakers in the area, Aceh for example, is very constrained to fund producing film. When they sacrifice their money to produce films, their films will not be easy to get into cinemas like cinema XXI or CInemaxx. So hopefully the Steem Power delegation will give a bright hope for film maker in Aceh.
