The entire MMA world is talking more about Conor McGregor and his future in the sport following an ugly incident in Brooklyn last week that led to the champ being arrested.
The backdrop here was UFC 223 that took place in Brooklyn on Saturday night. Khabib Nurmagomedov took on Al Iaquinta for the lightweight title last minute after Tony Ferguson had to withdraw due to a freak injury.
In the end, Khabib came out on top in an unanimous decision to earn his first ever title. It was the Russian's third victory in just the past six days.
Despite this, top UFC stars were not terribly impressed by the victory. That list includes Ferguson himself.

And the always outspoken Nate Diaz.

It makes sense why these men wouldn't be impressed. The entire MMA world was looking forward to Khabib and Ferguson going at it. Instead, the former took on a fighter in Iaquinta who boasted a 13-3 record heading into Saturday's main event.
Obviously, this train of thought was backed up by others around the UFC world.

It's going to be interesting to see where the UFC and head honcho Dana White go from here. The McGregor incident is what it is.
But the future of the sport hangs in the balance here. How the Association reacts moving forward will be telling.
