Myanmar, 15 people were killed in a landslide in the northern region. At least 45 people were injured in the incident. This happened in the northern Kanchan state's Hupantan Panna mine on Saturday.
Kwao Swar Aung, the administrator of Hepkanto, said, this incident happened when landslides took place when locals searched for valuable panna collections on a slope of the mine. In this, 15 people were buried under clay.
Reuters reported that 15 bodies were recovered from the clay bottom and 45 were wounded. Later, the search for panna in the mining areas was stopped. The injured were sent to a local hospital after the rescue.
Kia Suar Aung said, the victims of the casualty were not employed in any organization.
It is to be noted that the country's main emerald mound located in the heart of the poorer Kachin state, This region of Kachin near the border of China is found in the world's best emerald. So locals in that area often collect valuable emeralds from mine's waste. At least 14 people died in landslides in the same mine in May this year. In 2015, hundreds of people were killed in landslides in Hokkanti mine.
