Hey Steemians out there! As you have seen on my previous post, this is a musical talent show which comprises of different bands and genres. What's the name of this event?? It is called JELAJAH DERMAGA!
So let's not waste time and proceed to get to know who are the first band that I'd like to introduce to you. They called themselves as MARKAZ69.
They also known as M69, this two tone SKA band from KOTA KINABALU, SABAH had already embarked their name since 2014. I can say that this is the first SKA band that exist here. I'm sure all of you are intrigued what does SKA music means? It defines as rocksteady and reggae music which originated from JAMAICA. A combination of American Jazz, Carribean, Mento, Rhythm and Blues and also Calypso.
It will make you dance with the groovy bass and electrifying off beats rhythm. It's not just only making the groove dance-able but the attitude of the performance. Making as a punk energy to get down the flow of the music it certainly creates a different vibe from any other genres.
"Life and social stance" are the two main thing for Markaz69 that relates into their lyrics. I've seen them live and it's never regrettable. It WILL make you dance! Because I do love SKA music. So who are the members of M69? From Vocals we have Papa Azmi and Wawats. Guitarists are Bon and Redzuan. On bass is Reena. The saxophonist, Naz. On trombone, we have Sukman. Last but not least, on keyboards is Hakim. They are eight lineups altogether! It will be fun to see them live. Trust me on this side.
As a homegrown music lover, I am proud that there's more kind of genres that has been introduce here which make the music here go widely. Because I believe the more music genres that will be appear, the merrier it will be and there will be more organizers interested to do live performances. Who knew someday that Kota Kinabalu have their own record labels that accept homegrown music? We'll never know. Thanks to STEEMIT, that I be able to write post and let other steemians around the world notify the music here in KOTA KINABALU.
Let's check out M69 music! HERE
