Preparing to Hold My Ground
I Love Anchors
A high pressure system is squeezing the Trade Winds in the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean Sea.
The result will bring 30 knt winds gusting to ??? will find out.
30 knots of wind equals 55 kph or 34.5 mph.
I decided to deploy another anchor for redundancy and to share the load.
In these conditions anchor loads for my boat will approach 2000 lbs.
So...I bring out my Fortress FX37 (BAA-Big Ass Anchor)
Then put it together.
Choose the best shackle for the job. Stainless steel can not be trusted, and I always use a rated shackle.
For this I used a shackle rated for 1.5 tons working load limit (wll).
Safety wire the pin.
Ready to deploy.
Check and set underwater.
My primary anchor a 45 lbs Rocna already set and buried. Checking the attachment as well.
The Fortress beet down into the bottom with heavy maul.
Now I will be able to sleep well the next few nights. I Hope ;)
Trying to stay put for the next 72 hrs or more.
