A total of 10 Qanun Jinayah offenders are undergoing the caning process in Banda Aceh. The 10 offenders are serving the caning, Friday (19/1/2018) at the Baitussalihin mosque yard, Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh. Altogether there are 11 people scheduled to undergo punishment, but one person is postponed because the news has not been released.
The types of violations committed are, ikhtilath, provider / organizer ikhtilath, khamar and maisir.
The whipping process that was held after Friday prayer was witnessed by the Mayor of Banda Aceh, H Aminullah Usman SE Ak MM, Chairman of DPRA Muharrudin, Kajati Aceh, Kajari Banda Aceh, Banda Aceh City Forkopimda, religious figures, traditional leaders and hundreds of Banda Aceh .
Of all the offenders, one non-Muslim citizen with initials JS was recorded. JS (31 years old) was proven to have violated the type of khamar, selling liquor.
Associated with the whip process against JS, the Mayor of Banda Aceh explained that it was his own choice of a non-Muslim JS. The Mayor said, JS voluntarily submitted to the jinayat law and chose to serve the punishment with whip 36 times.
"It is his own choice that voluntarily submits to the law of jinayat. In the rules justified choose to serve punishment according to Qanun Jinayat or according to the Criminal Code, "said Aminullah who on the occasion was accompanied by Kajari and Kapolresta Banda Aceh.
For Non Muslims who violate Qanun Jinayat in Aceh is given the opportunity to choose to undergo punishment according to national law (KUHP) or undergoing according to Qanun Jinayat.
After serving the whip, JS is assured free without having to undergo a prison sentence again. Meanwhile, if choosing a punishment under the Criminal Code, JS will not be flogged but must undergo a jail sentence according to the judge's verdict.
On this occasion, Aminullah reiterated that he will continue to improve the enforcement of Islamic Shari'ah in the city he leads.
"This is a commitment Pemko in upholding Islamic shari'ah. Currently we have asked Satpol PP and WH not to provide opportunities for violations, "said Aminullah.
For the citizens of the city, Aminullah again asked for participation to participate in supervising.
"Currently we have opened the Call Center on 081219314001, for people who see the violation of Islamic Shari'ah, we ask to inform through the call center." Aminullah asked.
Associated with several times the violation of Islamic Shari'ah in hotels, Aminullah ensure has instructed officers to continue to supervise. The mayor also asked the hotel to respect and comply with the prevailing Qanun in Banda Aceh.
"We've had a meeting with the hotel, and we have confirmed if proven to violate the permit will be revoked," lid Aminullah.
