Korean dramas are still the best choice for me when I'm working from home. If in the past I always watched from illegal sites, now I try to do better as a viewer: watching through legal applications. there are several legal applications that can be used, but I chose three applications, that is Netflix, VIU, and iQIYI. Both Netflix, VIU, or iQIYI, all have advantages and disadvantages.
Netflix, for example, you can find a variety of Korean drama titles both old and latest. In fact, Netflix has the most complete collection of Korean dramas, like Vagabond, When The Camellia Blooms, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, and Crash Landing on You. In terms of updating Netflix is also the fastest. You can watch the Korean dramas one minute after the drama has finished airing in Korea and at that time Indonesian subtitles are also available. So, you can be the most updated person when watching Korean dramas through Netflix.
Different Netflix, VIU has taken a long time in terms of updating Korean dramas that premiered there. At least I have to wait the next day to watch the drama that aired the night before and usually Indonesian subtitles are not immediately available. Sometimes I have to wait until evening to watch in Indonesian subtitles.
Better than VIU, iQIYI updates the drama that premiered there faster. Viewers can enjoy the drama the next day after the drama airs in Korea around 11.00 and at that time a drama with Indonesian subtitles is also available. Because of these advantages, for the latest Korean drama updates I prefer the iQIYI application. Korean dramas that premiere on VIU are usually also on the iQIYI application, such as Flower Evil which ended some time ago and Tale of The Nine Tailed which is currently still on going. Some of the dramas that air on iQIYI don't even air on VIU like the drama 18 Again that I am currently participating in.
Even though VIU is lagging behind in terms of updates, it is the champion in providing the cheapest prices. You can get a premium package by paying IDR 30,000 every month and for new users on VIU, you can get a 3-month discount, which is only IDR 15,000 (plus 10% tax) per month. Surprisingly, in the first month I subscribed to VIU premium I only paid IDR 4,000 because I got cashback from Go-Pay. Compared to VIU, iQIYI has a higher price, which is IDR 99,000 per month, but new customers can subscribe to premium on iQIYI by paying only IDR 3,000 in the first month.
Netflix is in the middle when it comes to pricing. For those of you who only watch via smartphone, you can subscribe to Netflix by paying IDR 54,000 and the cost will increase if you want to be able to watch on a Smart TV, computer, or more who can access simultaneously. However, to register for Netflix, viewers must use a credit card or use a bank that can be used for international transactions. Different fro VIU and iQIYI, which accept payments in various easy ways. In addition, Netflix also does not provide special discounts for new subscribers and when you enter the home page, you will immediately be faced with the subscription price on Netflix.
