Pak Nam OK, the first female Director in Korea, died on 8 April. She died at the age of 94 at her home in Los Angeles.
She made her debut in 1955 with the movie "Widow" and became the first ever woman Director in Korea. The film told a difficult story about women who lost their husbands during the war.
Pak Nam OK was the first to pave the way for women in the film industry. Looking at the old photo, which the Director depicted during the shooting process with the child behind his back, you can understand how difficult it was in this profession, where at that time dominated by men.
In her honor in 2001, was a documentary film "Beautiful life." In an interview the Director said: "it was difficult on the set of the movie "Widow", but looking back, I'd give anything to relive those times."
