Gung Ye (궁예, 弓裔) (r. 901-918) was a one-eyed former monk. He led his army to seize most of northern Silla and founded the short-lived kingdom of Later Goguryo (후고구려, 後高句麗).
Gung Ye had royal blood and a life entwined by myth and legend. We have stories about Gung Ye from both the "Memorabilia" and the "Histories."
