어제는 인근지역으로 제 애마를 가지고 직원과 출장을 다녀왔습니다.
제가 사는 곳에서 길어야 1시간이 조금 넘는 곳이라 금방 일을 마치고 돌아올 수 있을 것 같았습니다. 직원과 필요한 짐들을 싣고 일찍 올 수 있다는 생각에 핸드폰의 노래를 들으며 좋은 기분으로 출발을 하였습니다.
자동차 전용도로를 달리고 달려 마침내 현장에 도착했습니다.
직원이 장비를 하나 둘씩 꺼내기 시작하는데 ......
아뿔사~!!!!!
직원이 소모품도 아니고 현장에서 사용되는 필수적인 장비를 하나 빼놓고 오고 말았습니다.
하필 사무실에는 아무도 없었고 제가 다시 애마를 몰고 사무실까지 가서 장비 챙기고 현장으로 와서 무사히 업무를 마칠 수 있었습니다.
그런데 일 자체는 별로 힘들지 않았지만 문제는 운전이었습니다.
왕복 2시간만 운전하면 될 것을 장비하나 놓쳐서 왕복4시간을 운전하니 몸이 정말 천근만근 무거워 지더라고요. 특히 달렸던 도로자체가 고속도로도 아니고 조금만 운전해도 지루해지는 도로라서 운전하기가 정말 힘들었습니다. 마땅한 휴게소도 없고 졸음은 밀려오고.....
이렇게 짧은 거리도 계속 운전하면 피곤한데 문득 택배나 화물 등 운전을 생업으로 하시는 분들은 매일 엄청난 거리를 달리면서 피곤과 싸우고 안전운전에 신경 써야 하고 제품파손도 유의해야 하고 정말 대단하신 것 같아요.
세상에 참 쉬운 일이 없다는 것을 다시 한 번 느끼는 하루였습니다.
