If there is one place where God could not enter into, it is in the heart of the person who cannot forgive. Understand that not to forgive your neighbor is an indication that you are not truly sorry for the sins you committed. You make yourself therefore incapable of receiving the infinite forgiveness from God.
You are making yourself undeserving of God's mercy. God's forgiveness becomes real for you, only if you accept it and apply it in your relationships with others.
When you realize your own sinfulness and allow the mercy of God to penetrate in your heart, only then can you find the strength and the inspiration to forgive those have offended you.
Forgive and be forgiven. You cannot be sincere nor can truly pray if you cannot decide to forgive.
Forgive to be free
The more you hate someone, the more the person becomes important to you. Set yourself free from the offered by having a forgiving heart. Some offenders do not deserve forgiveness at all, or do they?
It is not your concern as to what the offender deserves or not. Your real concern is what you deserve freedom and happiness.
Your resentments, heartaches, and pains can have the power to enslave you and make your life miserable, depriving you of the important things in life. Remember that a heart freed from bitterness prepares a body to be freed from various.
The best way to defeat an offender is to make him or her your friend.
