I'm glad it works for you, but it wouldn't for us. I remember when we had been married for 6 years and my husband got transferred 1,000 miles away! I stayed to sell the house. Two months later my husband calls and says he's on his way to move me to Texas, because he can't stand being away from me any longer. I felt the same way.
The house eventually sold without me being there (as a matter of fact, right after I moved), and the only times we've been apart was for short trips for business travel, a weekend retreat, or time to visit family when both of us couldn't make it together.
Maybe it's that way because we met when he was in South Carolina at school (he lived in Ohio) and I was in Wisconsin (a month later I was living in Illinois). We met and saw each other only a week.
So, our romance was long distance - before the internet and when long distance calls were very expensive. So, we wrote a lot of letters.
A little more than a year later we married and now we can't stand being apart anymore.
