After I had taken my daughter to school this morning, I decided to stop by at a public beach on the north side of Alasenjärvi. No swimmers in sight. I did not feel like going to the beach because the ground was too wet.
The below photos are of a cattle-shed made out of stone. It is one of the oldest buildings still standing in Lahti.
The iron fixtures on the wall are typical of medieval buildings. They are put there to banish the Devil or something. But this cow-shed was originally built in the late 18th century.
The provincial newspaper, Etelä-Suomen Sanomat, ran a story about it (behind a paywall) nine years ago. When you click on the link you can see photograph of it taken nine years ago. Evidently the building has been refurbished after that. It was in horrible shape. Those iron things on the wall were missing and I suspect they weren't there originally. The last time I saw those was when visiting the medieval Turku Castle a year and a half ago.
When I arrived home our cat Helmi was sleeping on our daughter's unmade bed.
