It is a spectacular drive to St. Mary's Loch in southern Scotland which takes you along winding single track roads between farmhouses and smallholdings and across the the stunning glacial landscape. The largest natural loch in the Scottish Borders it is situated 45 miles south of Edinburgh and the small single track road follows closely beside the water's edge.
It is possible to scramble down to the loch itself and steal a small taste of the fine and pure Scottish water.
The road then winds uphill giving this spectacular view of the loch as the dramatic hillsides dive almost vertically into the water, it is not hard to envisage how a giant glacier once carved and smoothed this beautiful place into its current form.
