Lake Toba ~ the crater lake with an island the size of Singapore in its centre, is also the largest volcanic lake in the world!
Measuring 100km long, 30km wide and 505m deep, it is the largest lake in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, and one of the deepest in the world.
Lake Toba is a natural lake occupying the caldera of a supervolcano, with a surface elevation of 900m, making it a pleasant getaway for visitors to the resort towns around it.
Known locally as Danau Toba, it is home to the Batak Toba ethnic group, with a rich history and culture.
Lake Toba is situated North on the island of Sumatera, Indonesia.
