This photo was taken from a small boat sailing the Lago Sandoval in Puerto Maldonado, an Amazon jungle in Peru. I was part of an amazing guided night hike near the Tambopata National Park where we saw many interesting creatures that are active mostly at night. The Tambopata area is known for its hugely diverse plant and animal populations and is said to have more than 1,300 bird species (including 32 parrot species), 200 mammal species and unbelievably many primate, frog and butterfly species.
This photo is my entry into the landscape category of a photo contest.
