We were really hoping for a clearing at the summit. As we were ascending through the Boulders section, it was already apparent that it would be a cloudy day. The wind was strong and along with it, fog came rushing.
We passed by the old crater lake which was just below the summit. As we treaded along the slopes, the fog would engulf the lake hiding it from plain sight.
We do get some clearing, but just for a few seconds before the fog would come back again to take the summit. The clouds were a spectacular view by itself. A glimpse of the valley below would be amazing.
