Two months ago I was in Shanghai for work. I decided I wanted to do some sightseeing in the area as I had never been in the surroundings of Shanghai before, and frankly really wanted to get out of the big city and see the real China. Therefore, I decided to visit Hangzhou, which is a pretty large city approximately an hour away from my place of stay by the bullet train. I mainly visited West Lake, a sizeable man-made lake with temples, bridges, and pagodas that surround it. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must visit when you're in the area!

Xi Hu lake
West Lake or Xi Hu in Chinese is an oasis of tranquility and a breath of fresh air compared to the city of Hangzhou or even worse, Shanghai. It is conveniently located near metro stations. The promenade along the lake offers a pleasant stroll and there are numerous spots from which you can take photos. There are a number of boat tours available as well.
Large temples you can visit, during the day beautiful but busy; expect to share the location with thousands of Chinese tourists.
At night they light up in the darkness and become a true delight!
Love for Steem?! ;-)
