A panorama of Ireland's tallest mountain, Carrauntoohil, taken at Hag's Glen, Co. Kerry.
This photograph sat in my archives for quite some time. I initially dismissed it because I thought the light wasn't right. After I while, I realised that the light is complex. It's stormy and sunny at the same time. The quality of the light varies throughout the picture, revealing different textures and characters in the landscape. The darker parts are brooding and mysterious. The lighter parts are warmer, yet also reveal sharp angles and rock. This is a landscape to take seriously. It is not a frivolous place. It's an image I really enjoy now.
