A few years ago we rode around the northern part of the south Island of New Zealand. An absolutely stunning place that I really want to go back to. We towed our gear behind our mountain bikes. Started in Christchurch, headed north up to Picton for the Queen Charlotte trail, and then cut down the center through the Rainbow Road. We were the first people to ride it as it had just been opened after winter. Didn't see a single person for three days. Interesting, before we set out, we had to sign our life away at Rainbow station in order to ger permission.
