On mauritius they have a place called the seven-coloured earth at chamarel. Depending on the light from the sun and the clouds moving by, the colors are changing. It's a tourist attraction and a rarely seen in the world. They built paths around the earth with platforms for the visitors.
For taking this image I was giving the shot some time until some clouds were passing by. In the back part of the picture, the clouds were covering the sun what gave the sand a blue/violet look. In postprocessing with Capture NX2 I was trying to not give the picture too much color that it still has a realistic look.
I've taken the picture with my Nikon D3s with Nikkor 24-70mm at 24mm and 1/200 second shutter speed. I hope the picture can give you an impression of how colourful the earth can be there!
