Thanks for sharing this! Most "leaders" these days are unethical tyrants who are appointed for all the wrong reasons. They are not appointed because of their expertise in the field they are leading for example.

I work in Information Technology. The higher up the manager ladder you go the less the person knows about IT. It's a recipe for disaster and ruins morale. The leaders of the past lead by example. They were experts in their field.

People voluntarily followed them because they were good and worthy of respect. They were people to learn from and look up to too. Also, the leaders would never ask you to do something they would not do themselves.
