This is the story of María, a simple and funny woman, who spent her life as a cleaning worker in a medical center. She lived alone, since her husband had died years ago. Every day he got up, had breakfast, got ready and left for work.
A medical center is not the same as a hospital, in this one works only during the day, and at night, it is not in operation. María and her companions worked quietly in a very modern and air-conditioned place, like all health centers. His schedule consisted of arriving in the morning and by the time everyone left (that was around 10 at night), he cleaned up his assigned spot and could leave. They were a group of 10 women.
Like every day, Maria went to work and started cleaning. Around 6 o'clock in the afternoon a girl arrived who would not stop crying, nothing new, since there were many cases like this. No surprises, after a while the girl left an office with her mother and sat down at the reception again, perhaps to wait for some studies or something like that. That girl would not stop seeing Maria, something that disturbed her, since children are not passionate about seeing a cleaning employee. Maria ignored it and kept working.
By 10 p.m., there were very few people left in the hospital. María went to her sector and when she got there she came across a doctor who was leaving. I asked him if there was anyone left and he said no, they greeted each other and left.
Like every day, she began her final work so that she could leave as well. After spending the whole afternoon a little strange for that girl who was observing her so seriously, she had neglected her work and took longer, so she was the last to stay in the place. Since he worked there for more than 30 years, he had the keys and he could leave safely.
The place was already dark, there was no one, the clock said 11 o'clock at night and Maria finished her work. An exhausting day. He went to the cleaning room and left the items. When he went to the bathroom, something strange happened, a water tap was on. In that place, the taps have a timer, that is, you turn it on, they stay for a while and they stop pouring water on their own.
The only way that has been working is that someone had turned it on 10 seconds earlier. A very disturbing situation, no?
María was left thinking, very scared, first she thought that the tap was broken, but at that moment she stopped pouring water, that is, the 10 seconds had elapsed. An instinct made her quickly get out of there. Very scared and also tired, she went to the elevator to leave.
Before arriving, I hear a noise, at first it was confusing. But he quickly stopped hearing.
After a few minutes, still in the place turning off the lights, closing the doors and such things, he began to hear a cry from a girl, just like the girl who had been in the hospital earlier.
Maria was very scared, but she told herself that it was a hallucination due to exhaustion, but the crying was heard louder and louder, really terrifying.
Upon reaching the ground floor, with a brisk step he went straight to the exit door no matter what. Something caught his attention. In the place where that girl had sat in reception, there was a note. Without thinking, Maria went to see what it was. The note read:
- You forgot your bag.
That left her frozen, it looked like a horror movie, but the most terrifying thing was, yes, definitely, she had forgotten her purse. Obviously not crazy would go looking for him, but there were the keys and she lived alone.
So when he was taking the elevator up to the third floor, he stopped. And then the power went out. Maria didn't know what to do. Suddenly she feels a presence, as if someone is watching her. Before she could move, the girl's cry was heard again. The light was turned on, and Maria, with her eyes closed, slowly opened them. There was no one in the elevator, but when she looked in the mirror, she saw a girl dressed in white behind her.
