One of the most popular toys in the world - the Lego Cubes turned 60, Newborn Editors reported.
In fact, the Danish company Lego Group began to produce plastic cubes as early as 1949, but they were then quite different the modern ones - they were hollow, with much more limited assembly possibilities, and the models created by them were unstable and easily collapsed when you try to move them.
It took 9 years to develop a quality and company design, and to meet safety standards, so the cubes we know today appeared in 1958. It was then that Gottfried Kristiansen confirmed the theory that genius solutions are often quite simple , adding cylinders to the base of the cubes to ensure their ideal grip.
This form does not undergo any significant changes until today. So two cubes produced with a difference of 60 years can be combined easily into one model! And to this day, thanks to them and their imagination and curiosity, children can remake the world and construct incredible models. Because there are millions of ways to assemble several types of cubes!
Interesting facts:
The name of the cubes translated by Danish - Leg Godt means "Play well".
To build a tower high up to the moon, it takes about 40 billion cubes of Lego.
Deviations in the size of the shapes used to manufacture the Lego parts do not exceed 0.004 mm - this is less than the thickness of the hair. But this precision guarantees the perfect grip of the cubes for one another.
