Doc was taught to trust science. He went through the education system honestly believing in magic and having adventures similar to the adventures of Barron Trump. He played professional chess as a ninth grade student and travelled to Russia to see the Hermitage before tourists were allowed. Conversation with famous folks that most people would be speechless in awe, to drop a few names, Richard Nixon, Linus Pauling, A.C. Green, Harry Gray, Pat Buchanan.
Politics was a project of We, the people. Doc began on the solid waste advisory committee, helping to keep toxic chemicals out of the landfill. He worked on the local watershed council, run by consensus with 17 directors, opening up 100s of acres of fish passage to enhance salmon runs locally, using state lottery funds. He believed Ross Perot and knew about the giant sucking sound - NAFTA/GATT. It took a high paying position away from Doc - the mine closed, the Canadian corporation went home.
Doc decided to create programs for math and science with youth. At a local zoo, we dove into aquatic entomology. Streams like this were invaded with nets and buckets following protocols and enjoying awe. The program worked, the ninth and tenth grade kids who were interested in science and grokked math were welcome. Nine kids ended up data collecting in the field for the government scientists collecting data, as high school interns. College scholarship offers for all, except the one who wanted to learn about bugs to tie better flies.
Outside is the place to learn about life. Nature has a myrid of things to offer. Every one of them is water and carbon structure and minerals. These are the natural raw materials that kept the world running, before humans invented science.
Science is not using equipment to prove a point. A hypothesis is an explanation, not a justification. We create ideas and measure them against reality and count things to see how much is there Quantity and to see what the value is Quality.
Maybe these are the real Q that should have a LARP. A LARP - live action role play - is a learning experience. It is a game; you learn from games. More than you learn from skool. Doc still plays mental chess, every day.
The problem is that cheating, lying and stealing have been rewarded by the current education system, that has run forever in everyone's lifetimes. We have to let it all collapse and cheer. We have to develop trust - in ourselves first, each of us and all of us. You own your own time - get your butt outside and spend time in natural systems.
ONRRI is a LARP - my weigh of investigating every field of science by using the scientific method to create a new hypothesis, the Knew Hypothesis. Everything we knew before today has to be reverified by the best honest practioners in their own field, in order to assess how correct truth is. We can develop new forms of measure and cross fields by ending compartmentalization of information.
