Trump recently signed the $900 billion relief package which includes the highly debated $600 stimulus checks that are going to be sent to millions. But there is still a chance that they could increase that relief amount on Monday, after they vote, to the discussed $2k for stimulus a relief check for the people.
The House is planning to vote on a measure this week that would increase the stimulus checks to more than $600, it would increase them to $2,000 checks per person. It took them this long to bring this second round of stimulus, we'll see if more comes around in a shorter amount of time.
What they've approved right now gives $600 to eligible adults, but also $600 for any child dependent. For those who earn more than $87k yearly in income though, or for married couples who earn $174k jointly, they won't receive any stimulus $600 payment.
After the first round of stimulus money went out, many people updated their direct deposit information with the government and so now they will be getting funds directly instead of having to wait for checks to be sent out. There shouldn't be as much of a wait or issue as there was the first time around because of that change.
Lawmakers have already insisted that they are going to vote on that increase on Monday and for any that vote against it, in giving more money to the people who want it, they are probably going to get a lot of backlash from the public, from millions who have been eager for more stimulus relief to be approved already. Several have already indicated that they approve of that increase to the checks so that people see $2000 instead of $600 checks.
One poll showed that an estimated 81 percent of voters wanted to see more stimulus passed right away, and prioritized over other issues right now for lawmakers.
