Wanted to share this tweet that I saw this morning about a group called Coin Cloud Digital Currency Machines.
If you give it a watch you will see some great basketball players such as Duncan Robinson participating in a shooting competition in order to win fiat US dollars. The caption of the tweet gives it away that Duncan comes away with the win, but then he shows off the Coin Cloud machines in the ending of the video and proves that we are getting closer and closer to mainstream adoption.
Coin Cloud has created an easy three step process to getting your cryptocurrencies by feeding it dollars similar to a vending machine or ATM. You log into the machine by using your phone number and then use the machines scanner to connect a bar code from your desired mobile wallet. Then you drop the money in, pick your currency output and it sends it right over to you.
I know that a lot of people on here are likely skeptical of this machine for a few reasons.
The machine is run by a centralized source. The only problem is that when we are referring to tangible machines that people feed money into, it is difficult to imagine one being run by a decentralized group; I suppose we could theorize something, but I think this machine is a great first step in finding a cryptocurrency standard.
The machine requires a phone number for verification and tracking. This is a similar problem to number 1 honestly as KYC verification is almost completely needed by the US government with these kinds of things to avoid money laundering... Translation is that they want to make it as hard as possible and they are damn good at doing that.
I am not sure if I trust this group with all of my information or anything, but the concept is really really cool. I have worked delivery jobs in the past where I would have a lot of cash on me and always have to stop at an ATM; if I had the ability to make that deposit a cryptocurrency immediately I would have loved to have done so.
Just wanted to share as it is yet another day where I see basketball and crypto intersecting paths. Either things are really starting to change in our world, or the Twitter algorithm is reaching peak productivity!
